Your letter of the 17th . June [indecipherable]11th July by ruling I receivd on the 31th [indecipherable] together with the Gen dispatches, which were next day forwarded by Post.[indecipherable]

I am sorry my exertions at this Post has not met your approbation, and can assure you that I have taken all possible pains to execute your orders with the most [indecipherable] fortititude and attention [indecipherable]. Indeed I endeavored as early as feasible to procure one. For that purpose I engaged a W. Henderson to bring up from York [indecipherable] ones these have not yet come four and I have not neglected on the arrival of every waggon that came up to your description to endeavour to free [indecipherable], I now send there. I shall endeavour to complete and send on the number ordered as soon as they come forward. The very irregular and inadequate supplies of money that I have obtaind has operated to retain these purchases.
