By the enclosed extract of a letter from the
 
Secretary of the War department, your excellency will perceive I
 
have received positive instructions from the President of the United
 
States, to go into the Creek nations as soon as I shall have made [undecipherable]
 
arrangements for my personal safety. This measure is considered and

with the tribes, to effect which in the present conjuncture of affairs
