Extract of a letter from James Seagrove, Agent to the Secretary of War, dated Savannah 4 th August 1793

This serves to inclose a copy of my letter to Governor Telfair wrote and forwarded by yesterdays post.

Since my last no change or novelty hath taken place in Indian affairs that I have heard of which leaves only to say that I am with all possible respect and esteem

Your devoted obedient humble servant James Seagrove, Agent to his Excellency Governor Telfair, dated, August 3.d 1793

Sir By the enclosed extract of a letter from the Secretary of the War department, your excellency will perceive I have received positive instructions from the President of the United States, to go into the Creek nations as soon as I shall have made [undecipherable] arrangements for my personal safety. This measure is considered and [undecipherable] as the only one likely to restore and preserve peace and harmony with the tribes, to effect which in the present conjuncture of affairs is a matter of the highest importance to the United States, as well as to this State.
