Plazabeth Town March 2nd 1784
Sir
I had hoped before this time to have had the pleasure of Seeing you in this town, but from the nature of your business. I can very readily account for your departure from West Point being longer delayed than you at first exfectedness.
I received from Capt. Blair the certificates for commutation amounting to 2360 Dollars and 505 Dollars in part for pay forthe 5 months in 1781 & for 1783.
I Suppose it has escaped your memory that I had lodged my [acoc] Seperate acc. & that it had been approved by you, before the Separation of the army--Lest you Should have mislaid it, I have enclosed a Duplicate which I believe to be an exact copy of the original.--Capt Ballard who bears this, will take charge of the certificates which are yet due me.
An your journey down the country, I shall expect to see & entertain you at my own house as your home, agreable to the promise you made me when you last left this town--in the mean time believe me.
Your friend & humble Servt. Jona: Dayton
John Pierce Esqr...
