The situation of the trading store remote from necessity if the store is placed any where on the frontier of this Agency cannot accommodate but a small number of the Indians. And unless a General Market is kept at them for the sale of all the products of the Indians the benevolent views of the Government contemplated in their Establishment contemplated cannot have the Effect intended. - There cannot be no dificulty in finding a Market for their Cattle, Hops, Horses, Corn, Tobacco, ground Nuts, Cotton, butter & cheese as the quantity for some years will not be great as the price [undecipherable] under the Contract of the [undecipherable] and the delivery of any of these Articles can be fixed at any time & place agreed on.

The [undecipherable] trade is now so much on the decline that some of the best Disposed Villagers in the Nation cannot depend on hunting for their Clothing & [undecipherable] and have had it in contemplation to better their condition by their industry, and if we cannot find a Regular Market in the Infancy of their efforts for all they make the progress in the place for bettering their Condition will be greatly retarded.

I have had it Clearly Ascertained that a Priofit Arises from Exchanging imported Articles particularly fine goods with the Citizens on the frontiers for Homespun & the Indians now give a preference to that finding from Experience it is more desirable than Calico or Muslins -
