Sir

Yours of the 22<s>nd</s> ulto and 20th instant have been duly received & their contents attended to - as you proised to forward the letter to Captn Irvine as soon as he should arrive at New York I had conceived it required no further communication from me, but as you seem anxious to be informed what further may be necessary for you to do, or what is now required of him, I think it property to inform you that as the most perfect confidence was placed in your declarations nothing further has been done in the business in expectation that Capt Irvine will make the necessary reports, on receiving the letter above alluded to.
