If I understand your Letter as to the recasting the Guns at Cecil Furnace, I certainly cannot object to the proposal. It ap- pears to me to be only fulfilling the existing Contract by making New Guns from casting over those that are unfit for use. If Col. Hughes makes good Guns to complete an Existing Contract, I certainly shall never enquire whether they were made from Old Guns bad- ly manufactured or from Pigs.
I did not believe that Mr. Lane had cause of Com- plaint and have no doubt of your ability & attention in discharg- ing your Official duty
