War Department, 2d May 1800

Sir,

A Claim is made by the Attorney of Baylor Hill, who states himself to have served as a Captain of Cavalry, in the first Virginia Regiment, under the Command of Colo. Anthony W. White, to the end of the late war, for a warrant for a Captain's Proportion of Continental Military Bounty Land.

Capt. Hill's name is not on the Register of persons returned for land in my Office, however there is reason to believe that it may have been omitted by accident, you will be pleased to cause the Documents in your Office to be examined and report the Results.
