It became my Duty to aid them, and I have done it with as little Expence as possible in receiving in receiving their Horses at the Valu- ation of two Persons and fitting them out with Provisions, &c. I request Your opinion respecting those Horses, that are Valuable, and which have been stolen by the Cherokees. The Treaty allows sixty Dollars for each, And the Act for regulating trade and Interecurse with the Indians an eventual indemnification Provided the Injured does not seek revenge, If any Case should be determined by the Act for Regulating trad[cut off, poss. e?] and, Interecurse by the Indians, I suppose sixty Dollars must be Charged the Cherokee Nation, and the Remainder 2
