This is to certify it appears from authentic documents on file in this office that Nathan Rawlings captain of a company of Kentucky Volunteers (under the command of Major General Scott) was wounded in an action with the Savages on the twentieth of August 1794.

Jeremiah Shannon and James McPheders, surgeons, certify that they have examined the said Nathan Rawlings and are of the opinion that by reason of a ball penetrating the left ischium, and fracturing it, he is entitled to a compensation equal to one half of that allowed for the highest disability.

Wherefore, he is entitled to receive an annual compensation of the rate of ten dollars per month during the continuance of his disability aforesaid, of which he is to produce every six months a certificate of two respectable physicians on oath: said pension to commence on the twenty seventh day of October 1794, to which time he received pay.

Given at the War Office of the United States, the twenty fourth day of January one thousand seven hundred and ninety eight.
