Received the 5th of June 1794 from Henry Knox Esqr. Secretary at [War] by the hand of Edward Carrington Supervisor of the District of Virgin[ia] the sum of three thousand nine hundred and fifty seven dollars & fifty seven Cents being a Balance apparently due the Militia called into service for the defence of the frontier of Virginia in 1793, for which I have acquired duplicate receipts $3957-57 G.
