Jn. Rogers Baltimore War Department 1 ^st May 1798 Sir, Your letter of the 17 ^th Ultimo, is received.

I have directed the sum of 3200 Dollars to be sent to M^r Kilty of Balt. by this day's Mail. for the recruiting Service &^c . You will therefore draw on him for any Sum not exceeding 500 Dollars at one time, as the Nature of the Service may require it.
