Extracts of a Letter from General Twiggs dated 13 th June, 1793 "On the morning of the 11 th Instant, an additional reason was given why the troops could not proceed, to wit, that there was not one days provisions on "hand." "if we had gone on in all human probability some of our troops would have come up with, and killed, some of the [undecipherable] nation, hunting in small parties - such a proceeding would have [undecipherable] the towns, who are now friendly disposed, and produced very evil consequences."
