I have just received a letter from General Twiggs dated
 
West side of the Oconee the <s>i</s>Instant, which mentions that a detachment
 
of about seven hundred volunteers will move some distance into the [undecipherable]
 
[undecipherable] Country: the result of this will be transmitted for the information
 
of the President of the United States/
 
 
There will be a necessity for additional supplies of
 
items - a thousand swords and two hundred and fifty /..... of pistols
 
would be a most sensses...ble supply.
 
 
I shall be very happy to have communicated to me
 
the general system that may be adopted by the President of the United
 
Staes as nearly as the nature of the case will by [undecipherable]
