Its early as the removal of the Office to this place
would permit I acknowledge on the absence of the accountant receipt of you letter (with its accompaniments) dated the 14th The papers after perusal by Mr. Simmons will be arranged [undecipherable] with the accounts of the Virginia militia employed in Suppressing the Western Insurrection [undecipherable]

The accountant being absent it has become my duty
to acknowledge the receipt of your letter dated the 27 May + 14 [undecipherable]. the former accompanied by accounts of Fortifications the letter enclosing the receipt of Thomas Welsh for Doll. 570 26/100 which will be attended to in course. The delay which has arisen was occasioned by the removal of the Office to this place & the papers + Books not being in perfect order yet_ an adjustment of the accounts cannot immediately take place but no time will be lost in effecting it [undecipherable] P: Hagner
