KNOW YE, that I, [handwritten] Barney Cox a Sergeant & private in the Fifth and Sixth Pennsylvania [undecipherable] of New Castle County in the State of Delaware Commissioned by Colonel Magaw [sic] and Harmer for available Consideration [typewritten] in the Service of the United States of America, for and in Consideration of the [undecipherable] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - to me in Hand paid, at and before the Ensealing and Delivery of these Presents, by [handwritten] Samuel Maus_______ The receipt whereof I do hereb[damage] cknowledge, HAVE granted, bargained, sold, remised, released, qui[damage]cclaimed, transferred and assigned, and by these Present[damage] grant, bargain, sell, remise, release, quit-claim, transfer and aff[damage] to the said [handwritten] Samuel Maus - - - - - - [typewritten] and his Heirs and Assigns for ever, all the Right, Ti[damage]e, Interest, Property, Claim, and Demand which I now have , and all the Right, Title, Interest, Claim, and Demand which my Heirs, Executors, or Administrators, at any time [damage]ereafter may have, to all the Land which I am entitled to, and to all the Lands which I, or either of them, may at any time hereafter be entitled to from the Congress of the United States of America; AND ALSO all the Land which I am entitled to from the Commonwealth of [handwritten] Pennsylvania - - - - - - - - [typewritten] by Virtue of any Act or Acts of Legislature of the said Commonwealth, for my Services as [handwritten] a private & Sergeant in the aforesaid Regiments - - [typewritten] in the Army of the United States of America, for, and during the War with Great Britain, and to every Part and Parcel thereof:__AND ALL such Pay, Sum, or Sums of Money, for Arrearages of Clothing, Rations, Rewards, Gratuities, Prize Monies, Commutations, or otherwise how-soever due to me for my Services, as aforesaid. TO HAVE, HOLD, RECEIVE, TAKE, AND ENJOY the said Lands, Monies, and other the Premises hereby granted and aligned unto, and to, and for the only proper Use and Behoof of the said, [handwritten] Samuel Maus and [typewritten] his Heirs, Executor, Administrators, and Assigns for ever: AND I, the Said [handwritten] Barney Cox - - -[typewritten] DO, for myself, my Heirs, Executors, Administrators, and Assigns, hereby covenant and agree to and with the Said [handwritten] Samuel Maus and - - - - --[typewritten] his Heirs and Assigns, that I, the Said [handwritten] Barney Cox - - - - - - - - - -[typewritten] my Heirs, Executors, Administrators, or Assigns, shall and will at any time of times hereafter, at the Request, Cost, and Charges of the said [handwritten] Samuel Maus - - - - - -[typewritten] his Heirs or Assigns, make, seal, and execute, or cause, procure to be made, sealed, and executed, all and every such reasonable Act and Acts, Thing and Things, Conveyance and [damage - conveyances], Assurance and Assurances to the Law what[damage]ever, for the perfect granting, conveying, remising, releasing, transfering and assigning, all and singular the Right, Title, [damage]terest, Claim, and Demand, which I, the said [handwritten Barney Cox - - - - - - -[typewritten] have, or which I, the said [handwritten] Barney Cox - - - - - - - - - -[typewritten] my Heirs, Executors, and Administators may at any time hereafter have, of, in, and to the Lands, Pay, Monies, and other Premises hereby granted and assigned, and of, in, and to every Part and Parcel thereof, un-to the Said [handwritten] Samuel Maus and to - - - - [typewritten] his Heirs and Assigns, to the only proper Use and Behoof of the Said [handwritten] Samuel Maus and - - - - -[typewritten] his Heirs and Assigns for ever, as by his or their Counsel, leanred in the Law, shall be reasonable advised, devised, or required; AND I, the said [handwritten] Barney Cox - - - - - - - - -[typewritten] DO hereby appoint the said [handwritten] Samuel Maus - - - - - [typewritten] my true and lawful Attorney irrevocably, to ask, demand, solicit, and obtain in my Name, or otherwise, but for the sole Use and Behoof of the Said [handwritten] Samuel Maus and [typewritten] his Heirs and Assigns for ever, from the United States, and from the Commonwealth of [handwritten] Pennsylvania [typewritten] respectively, a Grant or Grants, Patent or Patents, for the Lands aforesaid, in his own name or names; AND ALSO, to demand and receive such Pay, Sum or Sums of Money, for Ar-rearages of Clothing, Rations, Rewards, Gratuities, Prize-monies, Commutations, or otherwise howsoever, due to me as aforesaid, and upon Receipt thereof [damage] may do respecting the same: AND I, the said [handwritten] Barney Cox - - - - - - - - - - - - - -[typewritten] for myself, my Executors, and Administrators, DO covenant, promise, and grant to and with the said [handwritten] Samuel Maus and - - - - -[typewritten] his Heirs, Executors, Administrators, and Assigns, that I will not revoke or annul the Power of Attorney herein contained, or do any Act which shall impede the said [handwritten] Samuel Maus - - - - - -[typewritten] in soliciting or obtaining a Grant or Grants, Patent or Patents, for the Land aforesaid, and receiving the Pay, Monies, or other Premises aforesaid.
