In favor of her demand I do not hesitate to say from my own recollection that Capt. Dickinson was employed to purchase arms for the soldiery, & that I have reason to think they were converted to public use. As the death of the principal puts it out of the power of the widow & the heirs to be as accurate in their vouchers or their proofs as otherwise would be necessary, you will doubtless consider their situation & make every proper allowance.
