I certify that I have examined Robert Cosby formerly a private under the command of Major Williamson; when in action with the Tories at a Place called Ninety Six in South Carolina. He received a wound - on examination it appears that the Ball entered obliquely upwards be= =tween the internal sectional condyles [?] of the [illegible] which shot having destroyed some of the most import= -tant blood vessels & tendons - deprives him nearly of the use of his Leg. Given under my hand at Knoxville this 5th day of August 1797-
