Your accounts for payment made to the Troops in South Carolina have undergone examination & Settlement the result whereof is as follows_
Balance due the United States & Statem.t of the TMG. 1220.57 From which deduct the following sums admitted to your credit at this Office [undecipherable] __ Error in addition of Coll.o Smiths acco.t for stationary [undecipherable] 26 Amount of payments made by you to sundry Officers of 5 Reg.t for subsistence of their Servants, to which they were not entitled & has accordingly been deducted from the balances of pay & due them respectively - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 66. 65. 66. Leaving a balance now standing against you of Dollars 1153.66 which please to inform me in what manner it will be most convenient to refund to to the United States __
