Col: John Edwards Burbon County Kentucky

Accountant's Office October 21 ' 1800

Sir In my letter of the 11 June 1799 I pointed out the necessity of your paying the balance of public monies remaining in your hands equally to a statement furnished by me into the hands of James Morrison Supervisor of the Revenue, Lexington, and that this was the only means to prevent a suit being commenced. As so much time has since elapsed & no further fidings of the balance has been received I have written to Mr Morrison & have given you another opportunity to prevent a suit by placing the monies in his hands. You have already been informed that any additional vouchers, which you might have would if they were correct be received by Mr Morrison, as a sett off against the balance claimed, but no information has since been received. I request that you will now comply with my requisition in favor of Mr. Morrison thereby prevent a proceeding which to a man of character must certainly attach to him disagreeable consequences ~
