175 Mr. Elias B Dayton Elizabethtown N.J. Accountant's Office June 26th 1800
Sir The accountant being absent it is my duty to acknowledge the receipt of your letter dated the 5 June with the accounts therein mentioned, & this duly would have been earlier performed had not the removal of the office from Philadelphia prevented it. The earliest measures will be taken for the examination of all acco'ts [accounts] which could not before now be attended to. I am &c P: Hagner

The accountant not having yet arrived at this place I do myself the pleasure to acknowledge the receipt of your letter dated the 27 rec't [recent] , & this should have been done before had not the removal of the office from Philadelphia prevented it. I have filed your letter with the Secretary to be considered as an application when the vacancies are to be filled.
