Springfield May 24th. 1800. Sir:
I have received your letter of the 20th inst. enclosing six hundred dollars in Post Notes on account of the Armery -- the same being passed to your credit squares our money accounts to this day
In turning the powder lately in the magazine many of the casks are found damaged -- shall I procure as many new ones as are necessary
[left margin stamp] Received from State Dep't. Nov. 24. 1894. R.P.O. 401310.
It gives me pain to trouble you again relative to one of our horses -- who is reported to me by the Superintendent, as being unfit for the services of the work -- in my opinion he had better be sold at any rate, and another purchased -- if you are of the same opinion. I wish for your directions whether to dispose of him at Public Auction, or at private sale -- or sacrifice, undoubtedly, must be made but, at present, he is of little use --.
I hope your situation at the New City will be found as eligible and agreeable to yourself & Family as the present one --
I am, Sir Most Respectfully, Yr Obedt Servant,
Joseph Williams
