examination & passing them to the debit of the several different heads of expenditure to which they belong. I would therefore recommend for the sake of system & uniformity of principle that you withdraw them from this office, and to retain them for the purpose of sealing them with the Purveyor. You stand charged on the Books of this Office
with the sum of Two hundred eighty eight dollars & 54/100, [illegible] statement annexed advising principally from the Pay of the Detachd. at Fort Mifflin for June 1799, a receipt roll for which has not been rendered to this office by you. I request you will as early as convenient forward one, in order that your account may be credited for the amount paid, & the balance remaining in your hands you will please refund to the Treasurer of the United States, to close your account. In expectation of your early compliance with this request, I am &c. W. S.
