Union Camp near Elizabethtown New Jersey Accountants; Office March 19th, 1800 Sir In the examination of the Contactors accounts for the State of New York I find that you have granted to Mr. Henshaw (the Contractors agent at Stillwater) your certificate for between 3 & 400 Rations more than your Detachment were entitled to by your granting a General receipt without taking up the subordinate returns & receipts that you have before put him in possession of , by which means the Untied States have become twice charged therewith, this is a thing that my Official duties will not allow me to overlook, if you can therefore give me no satisfactory explanation for the apparent neglectfull conduct I shal be under the necessity of representing you immediately to the Adjutant General for the purpose of having the proper investigation made__ I am LC W.S.
