New York 20th Decr 1799 Samuel Hodgson Capt. 209 Sir I am happy to observe by your favor of 17th Inst. that it appears the cloathing issued to the several Companies of Artills in Eight _ as also Capt. Leonard which upon a reference to the Eight. I find the number of Sergeants Shirts to be useable to the number you quote _ say 24 the mistake was made in the copying it off. __I have signed a letter from the Lt. M of the 12th Regiments in which he is [undecipherable] by the Commanding officer of the Brigade to furnish them with twenty eight thousand Ball Cartridges suitable to this Caliber of their army together with a number of Ammunitions boxes sufficient to contain them __He requests me to make the supply but there being no ammunition in my possession, belonging to the Military, I have to request your attention to the need full in
