Philadelphia 13th July 1798.
Sir-.
As soon as convenient after the receipt of this letter be pleased
to send two of the English eight inch Howitzers, with everything belong- in to them to. New York to the address of Colonel Stevens-I presume they are compleatly [sic] mounted, and furnished with implements- but if that is not the case send what you have, and the deficiency must be made up in York. I have again called the attention of the Ac- countant to the adjustment of your account and he is engaged in it- You will please to enclose me an order on him for whatever balance may be found, due to you, this I shall receive and pass to your Credit in my Books, after which I will send you a statement of the whole business-- I am Sir, Your Most Obedient Servant. The following named Soldiers, nine in Number, are ordered
to join their Company in New York and are directed to proceed by the way of Amboy--The passage Money viz- Five Dollars for each Man will be paid by Captain John Henry now in York. If not paid by him I will be answerable for the Amount. [flourish]
