And that they would then speak to Congress or words to that Effect-- And I have also heard him bost that he could raise all the Indians in favour of the French-- Mr. La Shaize was bound for Luisville. And told us he should stay at General Clarkes who he (La Shaize) has appointed a Major General in the French Service in 1793 or 4 -- And who he told me is still in French pay and all the other officers of the Legion-- La Shaize also told me that the appointments had been disapproved of by the qualified French Government at one time.
