    In the spring of 1792 I 

placed in W. Britt's hand the sum 361.16/100 Dolr. being for pay due the scouts of Mercer County for Service in 1790 to be re-funded to you in case of his not having an opptunity of making the payment Christopher Greenup Esq. late Lieut. of said County being authorized to receive the sume & having inform'd me that he had made payment application to you without effect, I have inconsequence paid him the amount having taken his indemnification list it should be hard in any other way. You will therefore [2 crossed out lines] appropriate the said sum in [2 crossed out words] in discharge of the Pay Subm'd for age of the Army.
