     The bearer Doct. John F. Carmichael is charged with the conveyance of the sum of Forty eight thousand two hundred & one Dollars ,being the aount of my estimate for the Pay of the Trrops (to the westward) on the establishment of the Unted States for the months of October Novemr & Decemr. 1792. Emetteed agreeably to the Schedule at foot for whish you will please to the sign duplicate receipts & write me immediatly on the arrival of the oney--I had to the present previously as your letter of 31st Unlto addressed to the order of Doct. Andrews thirty dolls. On behalf thirty dolls & thirty to Dr. Strong, intended to be approved to their pay for the work of Janr. last. I tried quat  assurances from Mr. Brite to induce me to make payment here that the same afsd. certainly be refunded. Please to tell Cap Pierce that Mr. Billinton has presented his drats for two more pay, which I cannot be accept, owing to the difficulties attending such a transaction-- [illeg]
