June 4, 1790. John Caldwell to Judge [Harry] Innes. "About the seventh of March last, the Indians came to the Rolling fork and stole a number of horses to the amount of 16. They were pursued by Captain [William] Wilson and (?) party, who came up with them in about forty miles; but being overpowered they were obliged to retreat; Cap't Wilson was killed upon the shot."
