Being informed by Captain McClure that you were put in charge of the Military Stores at his departure from South Carolina, I have to request you would as soon as convenient after the receipt of this make out and forward to me a return of the stores, and a state of the Department at your post __ you will please to note particularly the present state of the Stores, and the places i nwhich they are deposited__ that if necessary measures may be taken for their security___ Should the Department be in debt, you will please to inclose me an Estimate specifying the amount, and for what due______________
