User Accounts: Dashboard, Contributions, and Watchlist

Clicking the user icon in the navigation menu on the Transcribe page (it looks like a person) opens a dropdown menu which tells you the username which is currently logged-in, and gives you options to see your Dashboard, Contributions, and Watchlist.

Dashboard

The dashboard gives you an overview of your Contributions and your Watchlist.

Your recent Contributions (documents you have edited) will display as a list. In each row, it will show the following information:

  • Document type (just “document” in most cases);
  • Document title, which is also a link to the document page, with the page number in parentheses after the title;
  • Link to see the changes you made with the version immediately before that (“diff”);
  • Link to see the history of the document’s edits (“hist);
  • Date of last change in the format Month/Day/Year followed by timestamp; and
  • Summary of the changes, with the number of characters changed in parentheses, followed by any comment or summary supplied by the person making the change.

Above the list is a button which will take you to see all of your contributions

Your watched pages will also display as a list. Watched pages include those you have selected that are being edited by you or another user. Next to the list header is a button which will take you to see all of the items on your watchlist.

The list of watched pages displays the following information:

  • Document type (just “document” in most cases);
  • Document title, which is also a link to the document page, with the page number in parentheses after the title;
  • Link to see the changes you made with the version immediately before that (“diff”);
  • Link to see the history of the document’s edits (“hist);
  • Date of last change in the format Month/Day/Year followed by timestamp; and
  • Summary of the changes, with the number of characters changed in parentheses, followed by any comment or summary supplied by the person making the change

Contributions

Your Contributions are those documents which you have edited in some way, either through the Notes function or by creating or modifying the transcription. You can view your contributions either by clicking the “View your contributions” button on your Dashboard, or by clicking your user icon and selecting Contributions in the dropdown.

Your contributions display in a table. Because you transcribe documents page by page, the rows in the table correspond to the pages of a document, not to the entire document itself.

Each column header provides the following information:

  • Revision: the time and date of your edit on the document, along with its status in parentheses, for example “(current)”
  • A blank column with links to the most recent version but one, and the complete history of the changes to the document
  • Media #: the title of the media (the page you edited) with a direct link to that page
  • Type: Document type
  • Item: a link to the document of which the edited media is a part
  • Project: the project which the document is a part of
  • Size: the size, in bytes, of the edit, followed by the difference between the previous and current versions
  • Comment: the comment or summary you left when editing

Watchlist

You can choose to track pages which you have not edited by adding them to your Watchlist. This table keeps you updated on the latest changes to the pages and documents which you are watching.

Above the table of watched documents is a dropdown menu which lets you select the time period for changes. You can choose from:

  • 6 hours,
  • 12 hours,
  • 1 day,
  • 3 days,
  • 7 days,
  • 30 days, or
  • 90 days.

Changes older than 90 days will not be visible.

Watched media (pages) display in a table. Each page is a row in the table. The columns are:

  • Media Number: a link to the page, with the page’s title (usually Page 1, Page 2, etc)
  • Type of thing to which the media is attached, usually document
  • Item: title of the Item of which the media is a part. This acts as a link to that item’s transcription overview page.
  • Project: the project which the document is a part of
  • Revision: time and date of the most recent revisions
  • Links to view the difference (diff) between the most recent version and the one just previous, and to see the entire history of edits on the media
  • Size the size, in bytes, of the edit, followed by the difference between the previous and current versions
  • User: the last user to edit or change the media
  • Comment: any comment the user left when making the changes
