Abstract of debts contracted for by John Chisholm
in behalf of the United States, when negociating with the Southern
Indians public business by the orders of Governor Blount from the
6<sup>th</sup> November 1795 to 24<sup>th</sup> March1796 - Some of which have
been paid by him in full, one in part, and the remaining still
due, as now stated to the persons who acted as agents under him; but
the whole Balance is inhibited as a Claim against the United States
by the said John Chisholm he being responsible for that amount

Personally appeared before me Joseph Greer one of the Justices of the peace for the County of Knox John Chisholm who doth Swear that the foregoing Abstract as stated is fact and true, and that the several sums charged as paid; was actually done, but being in the Indian Nation could not obtain Receipts therefor, and that the sums stated to be due, is to the persons who acted under him on public Business, and that the sum of Twelve Hundred & thirty two Dollars, is a just charge against the United States.
