Sir,
Enclosed is Col. Grr.s specification of defects found in the market
Sahncatio by mr Alijah Peck of Hartford - which Have been ewrected by
the Secretary of the Treasury, to procure & transmit to your at New
London for your Future Government.

Here follows a copy of the [word stricken] defacto yeare
1st. in regard to the Lock- it is not well proportional, the hammer
will not shut to a good Joint_ some go oft at half cock + some
stop at half cock_ some of the hams are not hardened well
nor well bored
2nd With respect to the stocking part._ the stocking is very bad
the Lock is not well lit inand does not make a good point
to the barrell_ the mounting is badly filed & not will cut
into the wood_
3rd- the Bayonett is not wile tempered_+ some of them cut
left handed_
4th. The Hamror is not wele tempered_ nor cuik at return
without going out of the middle hand
