Dear Sa
Your letter of the [undecipherable] is received [undecipherable] time a letter from your [undecipherable] Office requesing a Return of all the property of the United States on [undecipherable] charge
I shall endeavor to improve your [undecipherable] with respect to Pot ash I presume I may infer from the Genl change you suppose will shortly take place, that I shall have equal liberty with you I have this day requested Genl [undecipherable] to give me his opinion on this point, Same time suggesting to him that I look for a removal to make room for some favorite - I shall mention to Capt Turner what you say respecting him - he seems much disposed to resign and go into Mercantile business - I had no doubt of your acting a dignified part at the surrendering of your Office - The QMG is not yet returned, but shortly expected.
