Your letter dated the 20<sup>th</sup>Inst, accompanied by the accounts
& vounchers therein mentioned were handed to me from the War Office, After examination a balance of Six hundred & fifty four dollars & 66/100 the amount of a receipt forwarded & received yesterday. - the said sum you will receive from Samuel Meredith Esq. Treasurer of the United States, who will remit the amount, for which you will give duplicate receipts - one of which to be forwarded to this office -
before I close this letter I beg leave to call your attention to that part of the articles remaining with you to be shipped for this place as the account must remain in part suspended from entry untill the articles are received here. I beg your attention to having it done agreeably to your directions from the War Department as early as convenient.
