The Secretary of War
January 3rd 1800
Sir
I have received a letter from Samuel Tredwell agent at Edenton North Carolina, inclosing an account Current of Jacob Blount for making "ten gun carriages of the sea coast kind' -at 120 dollars cache, which Mr Tredwell states to have been furnished agreeably to an agreement made for that purpose in conformity with directions from the Secretary of War, of the 8' Aug' 1794 & 30 October 1795, he likewise states that the trucks were to be furnished by The United States, and the amount of them deducted from Mr Blount account for which he has left a Blank in the Acct Current; requests it take filled up , and the balance ascertained, that Mr Blount may
draw for it which he supposes he may be permitted to do agreeably to the Secretary of War's letter of the 30 October 1795. To enable me to act on the accot I have to request that the Secretary of War will give directions for furnishing me with the proper information on the subject.
