solicits the interest of the Secre-tary of War in obtaining a permit to send a
vessel to the Isle of France
Baltimore 15th= Septt 1799

I am informed that Government has licensed one or more vessels to go to the Isle of
France, and that they will probably find it convenient to grant a like permission
to three----
Not having the pleasure of personal acquaintance with Mr. Pickering I beg the favor
of you to ask him for me, if it be practicable to obtain permission for vessel
belonging the Mres. J. McFadouk and myself, to make a voyage to the Isle of France - subjecting the vessel to such (indecipherable) and restrictions as government
may point out -- I am with great respect
