Burbeck assures Hamilton that he has repaired the fort at Michilimackinac to such an extent that it is now entirely defensable. The numerous Indians in the vicinity of the fort appear friendly to the United States.

situated on an eminence which compleely commands the harbor and village
will require 500 men to completely man it
it was in a total state of ruin not defensable even against small arms
I have repaired all the stone walls which were in a very shattered condition
excellent range of nine feet pickets which will be completed in a short time
this garrison can be calculated on to be in a complete state of defense and repair
