Hodgdon responds to Williams' letter stating the that muskets delivered are not the same as the pattern muskets examined and approved by Hodgdon and the Secretary of War. He asks Williams to write those who have received muskets to point out the defects. In a post script Hodgdon describes features of a pattern or model musket.
