Request for Date of Delivery
Description
Jones wrote Hodgdon the Saturday before last asking for information on the date of arrival of the cannon, arms and military stores that were to be sent there in May. Additionally, Jones was informed that the same Saturday Timothy Banger had gone to visit his wife and was to return on Tuesday. As of that Friday he has not been heard from, and Jones expresses worry that something may have befallen him. Jones asks to be informed as soon as there is word from Banger, and also conveys words of encouragement to Hodgdon.

stores arrived at Javoma
Trenton.September 22.1798
Sir,
I wrote you on Saturday last and requested you to inform me that I might communicate at he the Secretary, of the time of the arrival at Savannah of the Cannon Arms and Military Stores directed to be sent to that place on the 3.10 and 23 May last--from my not having heard from you I fear my letter may have miscarried. If your leisure will permit please to write me by next post.
Mr. Lewis has informed me that Mr. Bazen has gone on a [undecipherable] to his wife last Saturday and has prommised to return on Tuesday and that on Friday you had not heard from him. I sincerely hope no accident has happened to him. My opinion of him is such as induces me to think that nothing but indisposition could have prevented him keeping his promise Having had a friendship for him some years I should be glad if you hear him if you would inform me__ Left alone as you are and that presence of himself upon you I know the little leisure you can have to attend to my letter. None having come from you to my Office for four days past fill on me with apprehension for your safety___
That you and your family may be preserved this this awful and disturbing period in the sincere wish of
your obd Ser.
