Sir
I recd. your letter of the 30th ulto relative to supplies for the company under my command; which letter was the first intimation I received of such articles having been shipped. I shall make inquiry this day, whether the sloop has arrived in which they were shipped, and will sign a receipt for whatever quantity may come to hand.
I wish to observe, that the bayonet belts and scabbards, and the cartouch box belts, which were sent with fifty stands of arms, for the use of my company, are not only of the worst possible description, but are all so short that I can scarce find as many to fit, as would answer to mount guard for the common garrison duties.
I am Sir Your most obedt Servt
John Henry, Capt. 2nd Regt, A & Engs.
