Having contracted with Mr Eli Whitney [undecipherable] New haven for ten thousand muskets for the use of the United States - I have to request that upon application being made to you for that purpose - you will cause to be delivered to the said Eli Whitney or to his order four thousand seasoned musket stocks out of the [undecipherable] observing to take proper receipts to therefore
