Philadelphia July 13th 1798.
Sir,
I have received your letter of the 6th inst. The drafts you mention shall meet due honor. I will purchase and forward for the use of the General, fifty Pounds of Spermaceti Candles agreeably to his request signified through you. A supply of Stationary shall go forward shortly. I shall attend to the advance made Hamiltons Waggoners.
I will thank you for an accurate statement of the Quantity of Whisky forwarded to Fort Washington subsequent to the 22nd June 1796. I also wish to receive your Quarterly Return due the 1st instant. Congress breaks up on Monday next I have paid off Bache and now send you the first edition of Fenno.

PS. Enclosed you have a Note due the 20th instant. Be pleased to collect it, and pass it to my Credit and advises, that I may pay the Amount to Doctor Hodge who owns it. You will observe it was accepted on the 3rd March but made payable six moths after date. Samuel Hodgdon
After writing the above I discovered that Messrs Girlington & Kimpton on whom it is drawn live at Carlisle, not Pittsburgh as was mentioned to me. I have therefore not enclosed it. S.H.
