Title
Request for Mobilization of Defenses of Baltimore
Description
The committee asks McHenry to attend immediately to getting the fort at Whetstone Point [eventually "Fort McHenry"] into a state of readiness, as it currently offers no defense to the city, and no helpful British warships have been in the port recently, which might deter French raiders. Apparently this latter dependence on the British had been suggested by McHenry in a previous letter.
