Sir
I received on the 7 February last a list of payments made by you to your Company, (Col. Lanes Regimt.) for their services on the Western Expedition in the year 1794, certified by Isham O'Bannon & Elias O'Bannon - this cannot be considered a sufficient voucher to exonerate you from the advance you received from William Nicholson, Deputy Paymaster General to the Militia Army for the pay of said company.
The original receipts of the individuals are the only documents that will entitle you to abudit. You will therefore be pleased without delay to transmit them to this office when an examination will take place and the result communicated to you.
I am etc.
