Description
Enclosed is the January return of the work done at the armorer's shop at Springfield. Unless he can obtain more stocks, Ames feels that he will only have enough work to last up to March 15th. The ones on hand would last three months longer if many were not filled with knots and cracks which renders them unfit for use. If 250 stocks can be sent to New Haven, they can be transported from there by wagon. When the river opens and boats can pass, ten or twelve hundred can be exported.
