The Committee of the House of Representatives for protecting Commerce has asked the Secretary of War for information relative to completing and manning the three frigates for sea. Hodgdon is asked to assess the value of the following: arms and accoutrements for eight sergeants, eight corporals, three drums, three fifes, and 140 Marines with their necessary bedding and hammocks included. This information will help in providing an estimate for the coming year.
