Burrows acknowledges that he has voluntarily enlisted to serve one year in the Marine Service, unless sooner discharged, according to the Act passed July 1st 1797 which provides a Naval Armament. The rules and articles of the Navy against mutiny and desertion have been read to him and he will be paid six dollars per month.

YEAR in the Marine Service of the United States, unless sooner discharged; upon the terms mentioned in the Act passed the first day of July 1797 entitled, An Act providing a naval armament and at the pay of six dollars per month
and that I have had read to me the rules and articles of warThe Navy against mutiny and desertion, and relative to the administration of justice.
