Title

Enclosed sundry receipts for the paymasters of Virginia militia called out suppress insurrection in western Pennsylvania 1794

Description

Simmons enclosed sundry receipts for different Paymasters of the Virginia militias called out to suppress the insurrection in Western counties of Pennsylvania. Simmons requested all unappropriated funds of Paymasters be refunded to the Treasurer of the United States. The tenor of the letters was one of expediency. Simmons requests the assistance of Heth in the dispersal of the letters to their recipients since Simmons did not know their place of residence or superscription. Also enclosed is a letter for Heth, in which he is reminded that he also stands charged for monies paid for same object.
